The Jr High soccer team played a great game against the Geneva Eagle yesterday in Geneva. Brandon Strang started the scoring about 3 minutes into the game with strong goal made possible by great passing by John Montanaro , Cole Smock and Emilie Burr. He kept the scoring onslaught coming five minutes later for his second of the day. The third goal of the first half came five minutes later as John Montanaro played a great ball across the goal and Caymin Skytta crushed it home for a 3-0 lead. Jenna Parkomaki made some exceptional saves in the first half.
The second half started with the team coming out in a different set up allowing the entire team to play quality minutes and rest some starters and heal some wounds. The Falcons had multiple scoring chances but couldn’t quite get the ball in the net. Geneva fought back to tie, but Brandon came up big with the first “hat trick” of the season when he put the team ahead for good. The great team passing of John, Cole, Caymin, and Megan Jacobs set Brandon up with one player to beat and he sent a lazer into the top corner for the game winning goal. The starting defense of Libby Kendzerski, Casey Clark, Ethan Butcher and Alyssa Thrasher along with goalkeeper Emily Burr played an outstanding final ten minutes to slam the door. The entire team played very well. They are now 3-4-1 and host St. John Thursday at Falcon Pride Stadium at 7:00 PM.
